New Resin Coated Prints
April 18th, 2009 posted by

I just listed my first batch of resin prints in my Etsy shop. They are 5″x7″ and 6″x6″ giclee prints, mounted on 1/2″ birch panels, and they’re coated with a thick & glossy epoxy resin. The resin gives them a glassy finish and really makes the colors jump. Plus, with the saw-tooth hangers mounted on the backs, they don’t need to be framed. It’s taken some experimenting and the resin aplication is a bit tricky, but I’m so happy with the results and can’t wait to do more!

Wow - I love your prints without the coating, but with - the color really pops out and becomes so vibrant! That was a brilliant idea!

Very cool. This is something I have been thinking about doing with my work too, but I am still a little clueless as to how to do it. I would love to see a tutorial on your blog sometime! Your technique looks great.

Thanks everyone!! =)
hint: There are some helpful tutorials that I found on youtube - +resin +tutorial ;)
I’m still honing my own technique. I like to do these outside because of the fumes and the blowtorch. So I found some great seethrough plastic bins to put them in while they dry which keep the dust off and allows me to stack them. I will definitely be doing more because i looove the way they look, but I have to have nice weather to do them…. portland. come on summer!
